Enjoy Old-fashioned Train Rides

Mid-April through December
in Scenic Mt. Washington Valley, NH

Welcome to Columbia Station DC

Welcome to Columbia Station DC, home of one of the district’s historic train stations that once served the nation’s capital and the nearby area of Adams Morgan. Not to be confused with the nearby restaurant and jazz club of a similar name, this train station is no longer operational as a stop for the rails but does occasionally host special events including live concerts.

Columbia Station DC History

As with many structures in the DC area, Columbia Station DC boasts prewar architecture and fine details that are not easily duplicated in modern-day building design. Our Columbia Station DC offers a gorgeous plaster ceiling with crown molding and a stunning medallion, something you might expect to see in old-world architecture and classic Americana design. Plaster walls also offer a dramatic textured finish that have stood the test of time in both visual appeal and structural stability.

The original stone tile floor here at Columbia Station DC is an excellent choice for high volumes of foot traffic as well as musical events. The stone tile is durable and offers a natural aesthetic you’re sure to love, while providing excellent acoustics no matter the size of the audience.

The location of Columbia Station DC is also an excellent choice for any event an especially concerts and shows, as our central spot along the Adams Morgan neighborhood makes us accessible from the capital, as well as nearby Arlington and Alexandria, Bethesda, and even Baltimore! We also enjoy a full crowd during the area’s Adams Morgan Day festivals and other local events.

Columbia Station DC History

Columbia Station DC has a long, proud history of serving the nation’s capital with a convenient, accessible station that once saw literally thousands of passengers making their way through our structure every single day. Columbia Station DC was proud to serve those working in the nation’s capital as well as visitors and tourists and other local residents.

As the rail lines became less popular with commuters and our neighborhood of Adams Morgan became more insular, we eventually had to shutter our doors as a rail stop. However, we are so proud of our structure, its historic appearance and accessibility to residents, and of our connection to the capital that we decided to keep our doors open as a neighborhood venue and gathering spot!

Keeping History Alive

Columbia Station DC is dedicated to keeping history alive, here in our station and our surrounding neighborhood! Our staff is proud of our involvement with local festivities and in showcasing emerging talent from the Adams Morgan neighborhood.

Columbia Station DC is also proud to ensure our structure’s original architecture is preserved and showcases its prewar, authentic style. We hope you’ll stop by and visit our location when in the area or take the time to check out our schedule and see a show. We know you’ll love the sounds you hear and getting to know the locals here at Columbia Station DC in Adams Morgan!
